    Asharqia Chamber held a monthly meeting for the business sector on Tuesday, which hosted the General Director of the Public Authority for Transport Branch in the Eastern Region, Engineer Othman bin Muhammad Al-Othman, through visual communication technology.
    During the meeting held on the evening of Tuesday 10 November 2020, Al-Othman praised the business sector in the region, which interacts with all initiatives aimed at raising the level of work and developing its mechanism in accordance with the Kingdom's vision 2030, indicating that the transport sector enjoys Always follow-up and attention because it touches the nerve of the economy and is the key to development in all its forms and is closely related to sustainable development.​
    Al-Othman stressed that one of the Authority’s strategic objectives and one of its top priorities is to provide an integrated, sustainable, efficient and high-quality transport service that adopts the highest safety standards and keeps pace with global developments and keeps pace with Saudi Arabia’s vision for 2030, in addition to enhancing investment in it and supporting the private sector’s participation in projects and services. Transport.
    Al-Othman pointed out that the authority aims to develop the transport industry by ensuring the safety, integrity and effectiveness of the public transport sector, and to achieve this it has built its technical system, which includes in it, contributing to achieving the Kingdom's strategic goal by making it a global logistical center, and developing the transport industry to become safe. It is efficient, integrated and environmentally friendly.
    Al-Othman stated that the land transport activities are represented by three electronic platforms. The first is: the “Nuqul” portal, which is concerned with the electronic automation of procedures for the issuance and renewal of licenses and operating cards, and the second: the “wasl” platform, which is an electronic platform that enables the relevant authorities to monitor in real time the operational processes of land transport. And it contributes to activating supervision, and the third is: the "Bayan" portal, which enables transporters and freight brokers to issue a document for the transport of goods and a manifest.
    In the maritime transport activities, there are three electronic platforms that reflect their interests, which are the "Nuqul:" portal, which is concerned with the electronic automation of procedures for the issuance and renewal of licenses for maritime activities, the practice of maritime transport business in addition to the licenses of ships bearing the Saudi flag, issuance and renewal of eligibility certificates, and the second platform is: the gateway. Maritime media, which is concerned with electronically automating procedures for fishing and pleasure boats by issuing title deeds, issuing and renewing work licenses, and others, and finally the “Marine Service Register” portal that is concerned with issuing and renewing the marine service record for ship workers.
    At the end of the meeting, Al-Othman emphasized that there are many challenges and responsibilities facing the transport sector in the Kingdom, as organizing this sector requires the cooperation and solidarity of all relevant authorities to come up with the best regulations to manage them.​
